Cactus & Tree Lined Pathway on top of Enchanted Rock | Texas Hill Country

Here is another photo from Enchanted Rock State Natural Area. It’s part of the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department and it’s about a 2 hour drive from Austin, texas.  It’s located between Fredericksburg and Llano in the heart of the Hill Country.   This wasn’t something I expected to find on top of Enchanted Rock.  From the ground, the whole thing looks like a big, round granite rock because that’s what it is.  As you are climbing it, that is about all you encounter on the way up – mostly what appears to be one huge rock, with some cracks here and there and a few other rocks laying around.  But on top, some vegetation has grown in those cracks. It is mostly cactus and a few trees and some grass. This particular area on the west side of the top of the dome had cracks with quite a bit of cactus and trees growing that formed this cool little pathway that grabbed my attention.  I thought it was interesting considering the location. It seemed a bit out of place up there. The sun peeking from behind the trees gave it a nice touch. Top of enchanted rock in the central texas hill country - a trail outlined by cactus and trees.
